Teens tackle huge topics in “Women and War”

The Ordinary Production presents a contemporary play with a cast of entirely teenagers. The cast, who all hail from the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood, were part of the same production this past June and are excited to remount it at the Jericho Arts Centre.

Women and War shares the stories of generations of women impacted by conflict from World War I to the war in Afghanistan. From housewife to switchboard worker, young bride to nurse, mother to widow, and schoolgirl to soldier, these are tales of sacrifice, love, and determination.

The play, written by Jack Hilton Cunningham, has been done all over the world and takes a fictional look at real historical events. It’s a one act play stuffed to the brim with correspondance, monologues, and many storylines.

Told by actors aged 13-18, the show will undoubtedly bring a new perspective to the way we view wars, and what it does to young people. Women and War is directed by Larisse Campbell of The Ordinary Productions.

Women and War runs January 5th and 6th at the Jericho Arts Centre.
